Nine out of ten Americans suffer from headaches. These can vary in severity, type of pain, location of pain and frequency. More common headaches include tension, migraine and cluster headaches and are treatable with chiropractic care.

Tension Headaches result from muscular tension in the muscles that attach to the head, neck and shoulders. The tension can result in spinal compensation leading to misalignments. The misaligned vertebra then put pressure on the spinal nerves leading to pain, irritation, and decreased signals from the spinal cord to the organs, glands and muscles.

Migraine Headaches are descried as intense, throbbing pain and usually found only on one side of the head. They can be aggravated by various different triggers; such as chocolate, drinks, stress, food, odors, hormones, medications and more. Migraines often show signs before the headache takes over, this can include nausea, vomiting, and light and sound sensitivity. Studies have shown that migraine headaches are related to blood flow. Adjusting the cervical spine (neck) will help to decrease the pressure on the vessels and nerves allowing for better blood flow, increased oxygen to the brain and decreased muscle tension and pressure points.

Cluster Headaches are known for a shorter duration but more intense pain. They are often on only one side of the head. It typically occurs at night and they tend to occur 1-4 times per day for several days and then will not occur again for months or years. They, like migraines, are associated with the dilation of blood vessels to the brain and result in increased pressure. Therefore, chiropractic treatment that allows for improved blood flow and increased oxygen can help to relieve the symptoms experienced.

Sinus Headaches occur when there is inflammation of the sinus cavities in the skull, typically associated with a sinus infection. There can occasionally be a fever present as well. They can be described as a build up of pressure and tenderness over the sinuses. When you receive chiropractic adjustments, it helps to stimulate draining of the sinuses and reduces nerve interference so the body can fight the infection naturally. We also have recommendations on natural supplements that can be taken to help reduce the occurrence of sinus infections.

Thrive For Life can help give you a safe and effective alternative to medications for headache management.

How We Can Help

We use state-of-the-art scanning technology to measure nervous system function and progress throughout a patients care. This scanning technology allows use to see what root causes are contributing to the patients symptoms. The scans are done during the first visit for every patient as well as at the end of treatment plans to compare and demonstrate changes that were made during their care. In addition, the initial consultation includes a detailed history and chiropractic examination. The history includes any past illnesses or problems experienced, the details of the current complaint, and social and family health. During the chiropractic examination a series of tests are performed for specific areas of the body; including the spine and any extremities deemed necessary by one of our chiropractors.

Our chiropractors use specialized techniques with an emphasis on SOT (Sacro Occipital Technique). Other techniques include Diversified, Gonstead and CMRT (Chiropractic Manipulative Reflex Technique). Our doctors also have a background in soft tissue techniques (massage therapy) and training in fascial movement taping. Our client demographic is very diverse including families, pregnant women, infants/toddlers and athletes of all ages. Our athletes vary from young athletes, weekend warriors, college athletes and professional competing athletes.
