What is a Life Coach?
A life coach is someone that looks to empower others by helping them make, meet and exceed goals in both their personal and professional lives. Often people that seek out a life coach find themselves in a routine or rut that lacks enjoyment or excitement. Others find themselves at a time in life where they are in transition and ready for a change, but struggle to find their clarity, direction or motivation to make that change. A life coach gives added insight, objective perspective and enthusiastic support to clients ready to take their life to the next level.
A life coach works on understanding where you’ve been, meets you where you are, and helps you move forward into the life you desire. Although life coaching and therapy can complement each other, life coaching is not therapy. Through coaching you develop strategic actions to help you move forward. Coaching does not attempt to explain behaviors, delve into your past, or identify pathology. The relationship between a coach and client creates a safe, nonjudgmental space to use past learning as the jumping off point into the future you desire.
Why Does Life Coaching Work?
As we go through life we come upon challenges and obstacles that result in uncompleted goals and unfulfilled desires. These moments can leave us feeling unclear and fill us with self-doubt. When I work with clients I focus on three major areas.
I have one to four meetings a month with my clients. These regularly scheduled meetings prompt clients to accomplish more than if they were only answering to themselves. I also encourage complete honesty so that my clients become accountable to their higher self as well as through their coaching process. I find the way that works best to hold the client kindly accountable in their internal and external worlds.
I provide the tools, support, and space for my client to broaden their perspective and open their mind to new possibilities. I work with taking my clients just outside of their comfort zone, and into a place of growth, by challenging old ways of thinking that might be limiting and no longer useful. I offer different ways of thinking of, looking at, and achieving goals.
I help clients tap into, realize and nurture their own self worth so they can grow into their own unlimited potential. I inspire and motivate clients into action. While I will always be present and available for my clients, my ultimate goal for each client is self-empowerment for sustainable growth and change.
What Happens During a Life Coaching Session?
Life coaching sessions will typically last 45-50 minutes. Sessions can be conducted face to face, or via Skype/Facetime.
In the initial session I will get to know and understand you, review initial paperwork, and determine how I can best start by supporting you in achieving your goals. During future sessions you will be asked questions to understand where you are and where you want to go, and you will continuously be evaluated so we can conclude the best way to get you to your end goal. You will never be forced to make any decisions you don’t feel comfortable with and all sessions will be confidential, allowing you to explore your thoughts and feelings safely and privately.
