Emily Freeman MS, RD, LD, NKT, STOTT
Neurokinetic Therapy Practitioner and Corrective Movement Specialist
Emily has an immensely strong passion for science. Her degree work allowed her to learn about many aspects of the human body: anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, cardiology, nutrition and metabolism, and exercise science. She is a lifetime student and believes there is always more to learn as a bodywork and corrective movement practitioner.
Emily’s passion for health and wellness began in high school when she was introduced to Pilates. Having grown up with poor body mechanics while playing many different sports, she found herself the youngest in her Pilates class yet the least flexible with poor balance and stability. After more practice, she found how impactful the Pilates method can be and her body became stronger, more centered and pain free. She decided to take on the STOTT Pilates certification process while completing her degree in Dietetics at Missouri State University. She completed the comprehensive STOTT Pilates certification in 2008, followed by earning her degree in Dietetics in 2010. Emily was then accepted into the Saint Louis University Dietetic Internship program which was completed in 2011, and then finished her formal degree programs by earning a Master’s of Nutrition and Dietetics with an emphasis in Nutrition and Physical Performance. During her Master’s program, she also participated in a brief internship program at a cardiac rehabilitation facility working with the exercise physiologists on staff. After her degree programs, Emily focused on Pilates training and began exploring the holistic approach to health through Reiki, CranioSacral, acupuncture, chiropractic and NeuroKinetic Therapy. Having personally experienced the powerful impact a more holistic approach could have, Emily decided to dedicate herself towards trainings and education in these fields.
Her most recent training, NeuroKinetic (NKT), has been by far the most transformative. NKT has allowed Emily to take her Pilates and corrective exercise training to the next level and help clients manage pain that just never seemed to “go away”. NKT proudly describes itself as the “missing Link” in pain management – and it is true!
Emily’s goal of each session is to make the body more efficient. She will use various techniques to help identify why a certain movement may cause pain, why a muscle may not be firing correctly, or why a certain movement may be challenging or unstable, and overall help identify how a person can leave the session feeling more connected, strong and relaxed.
